Centre - Saturday

Friday, 18 October 2019
Three down, two to go. If you’re in need of your daily ADE fix, look no further. In collaboration with Desperados we will show you what’s what in Amsterdam’s city centre today.

Downtown Amsterdam is ADE’s beehive. The historic center district roughly spans the whole of the canal belt, and plays host to most of the venues and events that make up the Amsterdam Dance Event. That extensive offering of activity can make planning your ADE day relatively difficult. Don’t worry though, we’re here to help. Check out or tips for the day below.

ADE MusicTalks | De Brakke Grond | 13:30 - 14:15

Roger Linn perhaps most famous for revolutionising electronic rhythm making not once, but twice: first by designing the first sampling drum machine, later with the AKAI MPC range. Those machines have pretty much shaped the signature sounds of house, techno, and hip-hop, which is why he is such a revered figure in the music world. Techno don Dave Clarke will interview him at De Brakke Grond for what promises to be a wildly interesting Q&A, which makes this a perfect run-up to the rest of your Saturday adventure.

Strange Days | Melkweg | 23:30 - 05:00

Producer duo Know V.A. is returning to the Melkweg with another edition of Strange Days. If you’re looking for contemporary hardcore sounds, you’re in luck: this time DJ veteran Promo and eclectic rave talent Cera Khin will be joining them to make this night a wild and surprising ride.

Aether | Noorderkerk | 21:00 - 22:30

Feeling that fourth day ADE blues? Why not drop by Noorderkerk tonight, where an ensemble consisting of Boris Acket, Nick Verstand and Maarten Vos are setting out to transform the church into an audio visual pleasure dome. They will be redefining and emphasising elements of the church’s architecture with a surround installation containing no less than 20 speaker points. They’ll let you venture into a colourful and thick mist of sounds and colours, dousing the space in so-called ‘air-frescos’.

A.A.N. | Paradiso | 23:30 - 05:00

If you’re looking for live music, visiting Paradiso is an absolute must tonight. The pop temple is hosting Amsterdam Afrobeat Night (A.A.N.) together with three local and like-minded bands in the shape of Jungle By Night, Gallowstreet and Koffie. You can expect a five hour (!) performance featuring twenty live musicians that will serve sounds from all over the world, leaving you with a dose of energy and a smile on your face.

Peak Mystique | Claire | 23:00 - 07:00

Peak Mystique is a multidimensional platform formed by a unit of creatives. They’re known for their dazzling decors, which will provide the backdrop for energetic house and disco by Dan Shake, Folamour, Makèz, Phil Weeks and Playin’ 4 The City, making Claire’s very last moments of ADE just a little extra special.
