Ready to kickstart your ADE in a grand fashion? We’ll tell you Amsterdam’s Westside story. Together with Desperados we compiled five tips that will help you find out what makes West wild.

Amsterdam’s Westside is a true musical hotspot. It is the place where you can dance in iconic industrial venues and rave in warehouses until the sun rises, not to mention visit pop-up (record) stores, exhibitions and conference programming that is worth exploring.

Awakenings | Gashouder | 22:00 - 08:00

In West, Amsterdam Dance Event means Awakenings. The city’s very own techno imperium is starting its classic ADE stint at de Gashouder together with Charlotte de Witte and her concept K NT XT tonight. The rising star from Belgium has invited some legends of the craft who’ll cover the techno spectrum from Detroit to Berlin. Amotik, Chris Liebing, Dax J, Matrixxman, Monolok and Charlotte herself are on call until sunrise. Strap yourself in: things are about to get wild.

Wednesday | BRET | 23:30 - 06:00

BRET is a remarkable bar, restaurant and club housed in a building made out of bright red containers, right next to Amsterdam Sloterdijk train station. The venue is kicking off an eventful ADE tonight with rapid-fire techno, smouldering acid and mesmerising bass. Three DJs are set to tune into heavier frequencies, namely Utrecht’s Cosmic Force, local heroine Jasmín and Copenhagen’s Solid Blake.

Second State | De Marktkantine | 23:00 - 07:00

De Marktkantine was originally built in 1936 as a canteen for market traders, but today it’s tapping into a wholly different vein. Berlin’s Pan-Pot for example are showcasing the heavy duty techno sounds of their record label Second State, featuring DJs like BEC, Industrialyzer, Joey Daniel, Michael Klein, and the head-honcho’s themselves.

Awakenings | Warehouse Elementenstraat | 22:00 - 06:00

Techno is the name of West’s game on this first day of ADE. Awakenings is making it count this year, expanding to Warehouse Elementenstraat in addition to the aforementioned Gashouder. This venue is a historical spot, as it saw its fair share of rave action throughout the nineties. The raw and industrial building provides a deluxe techno experience, as Boris Brechja explores new musical directions together with Ann Clue, Deniz Bul and Theydream.

Something Happening Somewhere | Radio Radio | 22:00 - 05:00

Located right in the middle of West’s cultural playground Westergas, the Something Happening Somewhere label is kicking off Radio Radio’s ADE in style. The label is run by Nuno Dos Santos and provides for a never-ending source of pulsating house and melody-driven techno. Check out the intimate venue tonight to have Lucky Done Gone, Manamana, Map.Ache, Miss Jay and Sevensol make you dance until the morning hours.
