Q&A and Cypher | 20 Years of Grime in The Netherlands
Since grime music emerged from the UK underground into the mainstream, it became one of the most exciting, original, progressive and influential electronic music genres coming out of Europe in the 21st century. And a crucial influence to modern-day MC and DJ culture. Grime impacted rhyme and rhythm, bass and beats, and thorougly impacted the global electronic music scene. As shown in their official documentary premiering at this year’s ADE, the story of Rotterdam crew NoizBoiz embodies exactly this.
During this Q&A and cypher, NoizBoiz and friends will reflect on how grime music traveled all over Europe and branched out into local scenes, creating original grime music in a multitude of languages and with local influences. They will show original documentary footage on how they carried the torch for UK artists to branch out and spearheaded the rise of grime music in The Netherlands. They will also reflect on the evolution of grime music in their region, building strong connections with the UK and the rest of the European scene and bringing grime to new audiences, as well as its on-going musical influence and universal impact and appeal.
The time of the session is still to be announced.
