Egypt’s Electronic Music Scene: Building Culture Without the Infrastructure
Speakers: Zeina (Artist/Unfamiliar), Aly Goede (Artist/Nacelle), Rabih Mockbel (Venture Lifestyle)
Moderator: Timmy Mowafi (SceneNoise)
Egypt has one of the Arab world’s largest and most influential cultural ecosystems, yet its electronic music scene continues to develop against a backdrop of limited venues, uneven infrastructure, and a nightlife economy split between large-scale spectacle and independent communities. The session explores how Egypt’s electronic scene actually operates today: where audiences are moving, how promoters are navigating a shortage of spaces, how distinctly Egyptian sounds are travelling internationally, and what it takes for artists and events to grow without simply replicating Western models.
