Building The Next Generation of Club Promoters
Speakers: Sarah McBriar (AVA), Aurelia Sarah Ortiz (Encode), Raaf Verhoef (Gashouder)
Moderator: Finlay Johnson (AFEM)
Independent promoters are the connective tissue of electronic music culture, yet the path from first party to sustainable business has never been more precarious. Rising costs, complex compliance requirements and limited institutional support sit alongside a wider industry reckoning: as major, independent and tech infrastructure consolidate into fewer hands, what happens to the people and spaces at the foundation of the ecosystem? Drawing on the AFEM Promoter Good Practice Guide built by professionals, we will look at fair booking and artist relationships, inclusive and representative programming, audience and staff safety, transparent ticketing and data ownership, and the compliance and insurance groundwork that lets a promoter operate with confidence rather than luck.
The time and location of the event are still to be announced.
