One Off (JP)

Artist

One Off began his DJ career in the Philippines in 2017. After returning to Japan, he established himself in Osaka, navigating through Progressive House, Hardstyle, Future House, and Uplifting Trance before arriving at his current sound. During his Osaka years he built his foundation in the Japanese dance music scene through a residency at Club Cheval alongside performances at Club Joule and Club Piccadilly—not merely through headline slots but through the patient work of returning to the same floors week after week, learning how an audience moves and how that movement itself becomes part of the music.

He later relocated to Australia, where immersion in the local club scene—centered around Eat The Beat—extended his range toward darker, more physical techno. The brightness of Japanese floor culture and the melodically-structured logic of a constructed set. The body-extension quality of the Australian rave, where the beat is not heard so much as inhabited. Living inside both of those scenes made one thing clear: early in his development, he began to understand sound not as a sequence of selections but as the design of a single spatial environment. His ongoing relationship with Eat The Beat remains active today, bridging his Australian period with his current Berlin-based work.

He is now based in Berlin, working out of the European underground. His current sound operates within Raw, Industrial, and Hypnotic Techno. Heavy driving kicks; low-end pressure; grooves that transform through repetition; the tension and negative space that sound itself generates—treated not as a backdrop for selection but as materials through which a room can be constructed across the length of a set. The center of gravity is always the same: the set must accumulate into a single spatial experience rather than read as a sequence of tracks.

As a DJ, One Off does not approach the craft as a matter of simply playing tracks. He builds the room across time, accumulating pressure and guiding the floor toward a singular state of listening. As a producer, he assembles grooves from their smallest units—kick, bass, percussion, and texture—following the internal sense of pressure and motion that defines his work. Across both disciplines a single question persists: what should the music sound like from the place he is standing right now?

Through ongoing releases with Recode Records and bookings via Amplify Agency, his reach across the European underground continues to expand. On October 23, 2026, he will appear aboard the Schertz Club Train at Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE), hosted by 50Hertz Experiences, performing a B2B set with Vannood—founder of Recode Records—for the world premiere of their collaborative unreleased EP. A separate unreleased track for the train party is also in production.

His sound has been revised with every relocation: the small floors of the Philippines, the residencies of Osaka, the raves of Australia, the underground of Berlin. One Off’s career is not the outline of a style held in place—it is the outline of an artist who, with every change of scene, has chosen to be uprooted and remade. Musical consistency, in his case, has never meant staying in the same place; it has meant revising the question itself.
