Holly Dicker is a Rotterdam-based freelance writer, journalist and radio host with 10 years of music industry experience. She has written for The Wire, Red Bull Music Academy, Mixmag, The Guardian, Electronic Beats, Boiler Room and Resident Advisor, where she was staff writer between 2016 and 2018 covering global hard dance music and the Dutch club scene.
Since 2016 she's been researching hardcore and '90s gabber subculture,
culminating in the first in depth English language piece on Thunderdome for Resident Advisor, which was shortlisted for 2018's Best Work of Music Journalism by Reeperbahn Festival in Germany, and a polemic article for Mixmag about female representation in the hard dance scene.
She has a Red Light Radio residency in Amsterdam dedicated to hardcore
music and history, inviting guests like celebrated author and journalist Gert van Veen, Gareth de Wijk from PRSPCT, UK rave organisation Bangface and DJ Promo for interviews and DJ mixes.
Holly studied BA (Hons) in Interactive Arts at the Manchester School of Art. She currently works for Rewire Festival in the Netherlands and Bangface in the UK, previously working for Tresor Records, Stattbad nightclub and Boiler Room in Berlin and with Speedy J and Electric Deluxe in Rotterdam.
