salute (AT)
Infinite Passion perfectly captures salute’s lifelong love of music. From childhood spent listening to Nigerian records with their family to discovering Glasgow’s high-energy club sounds as a teenager, Felix Nyajo has built a career around their deep passion for music. The title of their new mixtape and celebrated club nights also reflects their mission: sharing that passion and bringing people together through sound.
Born and raised in Vienna, Austria, in a Nigerian immigrant family, Nyajo grew up surrounded by music. They took piano lessons, attended church regularly and developed an early sense of rhythm through West African church music. Video game soundtracks, including FIFA Street and SSX On Tour, introduced them to euphoric, high-energy genres such as drum and bass, dubstep and house. By 13, they were already producing jungle tracks and rap beats, while discovering artists like Bloc Party, Hudson Mohawke, Sigur Rós and Daft Punk online.
In 2014, Nyajo decided to pursue a career in dance music and moved to Brighton to study. Immersed in the UK's vibrant underground scene, they discovered new sounds, connected with local communities and travelled across the country to see artists who had inspired them. After releasing remixes and edits as sxlute, they established their identity as salute, earning recognition through early EPs such as My Heart and the Condition series.
Lockdown became a turning point in their artistic development. Living in Manchester, Nyajo refined their distinctive approach to house music, drawing inspiration from the soul of the 1980s, the sounds of the 1970s and the R&B textures they grew up with. This evolution led to a sound that bridges polished pop and underground club music.
Their 2022 Ultra Pool and 2023 Shield EPs introduced this new direction, while their 2024 debut album, True Magic, established salute as a leading voice in contemporary dance-pop. Featuring collaborations with Rina Sawayama, Disclosure, Empress Of and Piri, the album earned critical acclaim, reached No. 5 on the UK Dance Chart and brought consecutive MOBO Award nominations for Best Dance/Electronic Act in 2025 and 2026.
With Infinite Passion, Nyajo returns to their club roots, creating soulful, high-energy tracks designed to fill dance floors. Inspired by a series of no-phone parties hosted around the world, the project celebrates immersive experiences where people can focus entirely on the music and each other. Tracks such as ‘check check’ and ‘soul reply’, a collaboration with Riva Starr reworking Stylophonic’s 2003 classic, reflect their ability to connect dance music's history with their own creative identity.
Having performed at major festivals including Glastonbury, Coachella, Fuji Rock and Sónar, salute continues to champion the community-driven spirit of club culture while reaching new audiences. Their innovative approach also caught the attention of Madonna and Stuart Price, who selected them to remix “Love Sensation.”
For Nyajo, Infinite Passion is ultimately about enjoying the creative process and exploring the many styles that have shaped their musical journey. With a new full-length project inspired by the soul music they loved growing up on the horizon, salute's evolution continues to be driven by an enduring love of music and the people it brings together.
