These Record Bag Sessions are intimate workshops where top artists bring a selection of their favourite records and explain why they love them so much, as well as their importance and impact. For this session we invite Elena Colombi and Mark Knekelhuis to show us what tracks influenced them during their DJ careers.
As a respected DJ and radio host on NTS, Elena’s musical style taps into a wide array of influences and inspirations. For her, knowing and feeling music doesn’t mean specialising in one particular genre. Industrial rhythms, pulsing techno, ambient atmospheres, synthesised sounds, freaky disco, balearic love affairs, proto-house, and other addictive world music — for her anything goes and is perfectly balanced in her dynamic sets, whether on the radio, in a club, or in her own collection of diverse mixes.
Mark Knekelhuis runs the Knekelhuis label. Based in Amsterdam, and DIY at heart, the label’s out put is characterised by the esthetics of primitivism and imperfection. His musical endeavors took him to countless different places, always broadening his musical horizons. The worlds of live instrumentation and dance floor machinery shine through in his DJing.
Registration for this workshop is only possible with an ADE Sound Lab wristband.
