Michiel Laan (NL)

Michiel Laan is Chief Commercial Officer at Buma/Stemra, one of the top Collective Music copyright organizations of the world. Before starting his role as CCO, Michiel headed the Online licensing team at Buma/Stemra. Buma/Stemra is one of the fastest growing Collective Music copyright organizations in the digital space. Michiel is passionate about improving the quality of services to its members. Before joining Buma/Stemra Michiel worked respectively as an Entertainment Lawyer and director of ‘Muziekweb’, an innovative online music platform.



Buma/Stemra represents composers, lyricists and music publishers. The organization provides remuneration for music use on radio, TV, streaming services, venues and in hospitality, retail and business premises, among other things. In addition, Buma/Stemra promotes Dutch copyright both at home and abroad. For example, Dutch composers, lyricists and music publishers are offered an international stage by supporting major events such as Eurosonic Noorderslag and the Amsterdam Dance Event.
