DEEJAY IRIE (BR)

Artist

Born and raised in São Paulo, Brazil, Irie was part of the Hip-Hop crew 8 Milimeter from the age of 16 to 19, touring throughout the Netherlands alongside Osdorp Posse.

DEEJAY Irie started out as a mobile DJ, but in 1997, he caught the scratching bug and began developing his turntablism skills. He went on to win the Dutch DMC DJ Championships five times.

In 2005, he competed against the world's best DJs at the DMC World Finals in London, earning the title of World Vice-Champion (2nd place).

Since 2006, Irie has been part of the urban theatre company ISH, performing internationally as both a turntablist and VJ. His innovative approach allows him to use his turntables not only to play vinyl records but also to manipulate video.

He has also collaborated with Groningen-based future funk jazz band Electric Barbarian and performed at Eurosonic in early 2015.

DEEJAY Irie also runs his own record label, It Takes Two, which focuses on 78 RPM records.
