Ali Sachedina is Saavn’s General Counsel and Vice President of Business Affairs. Based in New York and Mumbai, Ali is responsible for overseeing all of Saavn’s legal, compliance and regulatory affairs around the world. This includes negotiating agreements with artists and rights owners, advising and working with the Indian government on policy initiatives such as copyright protection and digital anti-piracy, while also engaging in a wide spectrum of business development activities for Saavn. Ali joined Saavn with fifteen years of experience an entertainment attorney. As a solo-practitioner, Ali counseled clients - including multi-national media companies, Platinum award-winning hip hop and marquee Bollywood composers - on a wide array of transactions in the United States and India. From 2008 to 2012, he founded and successfully operated Kinetic Management, an artist management company considered by many as the gateway for independent artists from India into North America. Ali’s management roster included Nitin Sawhney, Kailash Kher, and Karsh Kale. In 2013 Ali established Armshouse a New York-London-Mumbai production company focused on the development of the electronic music scene in India. From 2013 – 2015, Armshouse curated and produced bass music stages at the four-day, 120 artist EDM festival, Vh1 Supersonic Goa. Armshouse is, in conjunction with other local Indian partners, responsible for bringing artists such as Skrillex, Major Lazer and Mala for their first-ever performances in India. Ali is a graduate of the University of Virginia (B.A. Religion & Middle East Studies, Minor in Persian Language and Literature) and the University of Richmond School of Law.
