ADE's 2026 themes converge on a single question if the streaming-volume model is structurally working against artists, what do we build instead? Troy Carter is one of the very few who can answer from inside every layer of that system: he helped build the streaming era at Spotify, is now building an independent-artist alternative at Venice Music, and is putting his own capital behind artist ownership. The session isn't "Troy Carter on the music industry" it's the person who helped build the current model on what should replace it, in a generative register: touring dependency as hidden fragility, human taste as the scarce asset in a world of infinite tools, and ownership as the through-line of genuine independence.
