Curating Culture with MARRØN
Speaker: MARRØN (DJ, Producer)
This returning series to ADE Lab brings MARRØN to the stage, following previous conversations with DJ colleagues Spekki Webu in 2022 and Mama Snake in 2023. MARRØN, a dynamic force in the underground music scene, dives into the concept of "Curating Culture" through his unique approach to techno, which is deeply rooted in his heritage.
"Curating Culture" explores how a DJ creates a communal space for connection, shaping the language of the night through which individuals communicate by experiencing vibrations and expressing themselves through physical movements, reacting to the music that resonates with them.
MARRØN, who employs fast rhythmics inspired by his roots, will share his approach to shaping the dancefloor and using his music to connect people on a spiritual level. Passionate about paying homage to the artist name he carries—equal to the strong-willed Marrons, a once-enslaved African tribe who defied oppression and found freedom in the primeval forests of Surinam—MARRØN shares not just hypnotic, percussive beats but also a piece of history and culture. During this year's session of "Curating Culture," we will have the opportunity to delve into the mind of the DJ and EERSTE COMMUNIE founder, exploring how he uses the dancefloor to connect, share, and educate the dancers of the night.
