Workshop: Circular Event Management

ADE Green - Mitchell Van Dooijeweerd (Sustainability Manager, Revolution Foundation)

Mitchell Van Dooijeweerd is the creator of multiple sustainable and circular systems that have been implemented at events worldwide, such as DGTL Festival. The pioneering festival has gained widespread media attention, and is often referred to as the most sustainable festival in the world. He will be your guide on how to manage a circular festival.

As festivals grow larger and louder and attract a bigger audience, organisers continue to look for ways to get the most out of their materials and minimise the loss of valuable resources. There’s no need to reinvent the wheel when the answer is circular!

Circularity provides a sustainable answer to the 21st century’s loss of valuable resources, pollution and biodiversity loss, where closed systems like festivals are perfect grounds to develop future-proof systems. Implementing efficient ways to manage food, energy, sanitation, and materials is a sure way to minimise any festival's footprint and help it bloom year after year.

In this hands-on workshop, Mitchell will share his insights into a full circular festival, showcasing the roadmap, audience engagement and systems implemented towards a circular DGTL 2022. There will be room for questions.
