The war in Ukraine technically started February the 20th 2014 with Crimea being “annexed”, but went to a full scale invasion at the beginning of 2022 just after the Chinese Olympics. We talk with Nastia about how the invasion affected her, both in terms of family and work life. How she raises money for Ukraine through her gigs and makes hard choices about cancelling gigs due to perceptions of complicity. We will also speak to the Human Rights Activist and Ukrainian politician Lesia Vasylenko about her tireless role in bringing international awareness to this unimaginable seismic shift in Ukrainian life and ask them both how we can all help culturally and how we can understand more fully at a deeper level.
