Live A/V Mixtape Release: LYZZA – MOSQUITO + Grove + DJ Serene

LYZZA has always been keen on mocking boundaries, as to hear on the string of EP’s leading up to MOSQUITO—employing genres of alt-pop, electronica, deconstructed club, neoperreo and reggaeton. And even before that journey, she found and carved out a space for herself in nightlife since the age of 16. “Whether she’s traversing the smoky world of club music or spooling out an intimate pop ballad, one thing’s for sure: LYZZA is a force to be reckoned with.”

Now marks the time for MOSQUITO. A 10 track mixtape, which is an “expression of LYZZA’s experiences as a Black woman within the music industry. Having felt misunderstood and unaccepted in the past, recalling the feeling of “taking up too much space and being too loud” in situations, LYZZA explores the notion of preconceptions, social dynamics and how so many people are misunderstood in their day to day life.” In this exploration, LYZZA found “inspiration and affinity in an unlikely muse which the mixtape would eventually take its name from.”

LYZZA’s A/V show adds an additional sensory layer onto her inexplicable world of sonics through multimedia.

MOSQUITO will be released on September 16th, via Big Dada.

The event is organized by Subbacultcha & The Rest Is Noise.

Free entry for Subbacultcha members. If you're a member, please make a reservation by sending an email to mailinglist@subbacultcha.nl with ‘LYZZA’ in the subject line + your name in the email.
