Melkweg confirms first names for ADE 2022

Friday, 27 May 2022
Melkweg is one of the pop venues in our ever-growing ADE city web. Once a typically Dutch factory building where milk was made, Melkweg is now home to at least four concert halls under one ceiling, where people from all over The Netherlands get to enjoy concerts and live shows.

Since the 70’s, Melkweg has welcomed a great diversity of music styles and acts. They have been hosting ADE events for as long as ADE exists, so it’s no surprise a lot of memorable nights have happened there. We look forward to what Melkweg has in store for ADE 2022, so let’s dive into their program to get a glimpse of what’s coming.

The first few confirmed events are here, with a range as big as ever.

Suzanne Ciani & Metropole Orkest

Every year, Melkweg invites the Metropole Orkest on the first night of ADE. Together with a chosen artist or act, the orchestra shapes a one-time-only live show, where the swelling and bombastic sounds of the ensemble blend with the unique qualities of their guest in the electronic field.

This year’s guest is no other than one of the founding mothers of electronic music, Suzanne Ciani. The American musician and composer is known for her ground-breaking sound designs made with synthesizers and for her powerful analog performances, that were unheard of until then. As a five-time Grammy award winner and master of the analog modular synths, this night will be one for the books. No spoilers, but the sound design of this live concert sounds promising.

For a better look of who Suzanne Ciani is, the movie Sisters With Transistors might give you a head-start into getting to know Ciani before seeing her create a compelling wall of sound together with the orchestra.
