Ras Kwame (GB)

Ras Kwame is a pioneering British DJ, producer, broadcaster and influential tastemaker whose career has helped shape the sounds of UK club culture, reggae, dancehall and beyond.
From his early days championing underground music and producing UK garage anthems as M-Dubs, to his groundbreaking shows on BBC Radio 1 and 1Xtra, Ras has spent over three decades connecting global sounds, cultures and audiences.

Today, he hosts The Reggae Recipe on Capital XTRA, a vibrant celebration of reggae, dancehall, Afrobeats and their influence on contemporary club music, featuring interviews and guest mixes from some of the scene's biggest names, including Sean Paul, Damian Marley, Popcaan, Kybba and Busy Signal.

Also, an accomplished producer under his Orange Hill moniker fusing Dancehall and Reggae influences with electronic music, Ras has collaborated with international artists such as Vybz Kartel, Fatman Scoop, Mr Vegas and has performed at major festivals worldwide, including Glastonbury, Reggae land, Outlook, City Splash and Rototom.

At Amsterdam Dance Event, Ras brings his deep-rooted knowledge of Caribbean music, electronic production and global sound system culture to moderate a conversation between Italian producer and Shatta music innovator Kybba and Jamaican dancehall legend Busy Signal.

Having previously welcomed both artists onto The Reggae Recipe, Ras is uniquely placed to explore the creative connections, cultural influences and boundary-breaking sounds driving the global evolution of dancehall and electronic music.
