MIKE MOOIE, also known as Michael Newerla and Michael Schön, is a DJ and producer duo from Düsseldorf. Founded in 2019, the project emerged from a shared vision: to produce uncompromising techno. As early as the late ’90s, they were active in the techno scene as resident DJs (DJ Moog) at a trendy club in Cologne and were involved in numerous music productions.
Their style is characterized by modern peak-time acid techno with a distinct signature sound. Classic acid elements blend with contemporary peak-time productions, driving grooves, and hypnotic soundscapes. Their current projects are highly diverse: through collaborations with other artists, they also explore areas of classic underground techno, mainstage techno, and melodic techno with powerful tracks.
Even as far away as Japan, productions –such as those with techno legend Takahiro Yoshihira– are created with passion. As a remixer, MIKE MOOIE has also been in high demand since 2026 and has been involved in many exciting projects (including Nostrum – Brainchild).
With the release of her debut single “Born” in 2024, her musical journey began anew.
After a long hiatus from music, they released ten original tracks on three labels within a very short time. In particular, the track “Acid Is My DNA” became the duo’s most successful release, with over 440,000 Spotify streams. “Go Fast” (a collaboration with French artist Jauf(fr)ey) also garnered a strong response with more than 250,000 streams, underscoring the growing attention their sound is receiving. In addition to their stage performances, they can also be heard through regular releases
of new DJ mixes on SoundCloud and live sets on electronic radio stations.
Currently, MIKE MOOIE is signed to major international music labels such as Reload Records (Madrid), Animarum Recordings (Berlin), and Digital Waves (Portugal).
Several of their releases have reached top positions on the peak-time, hype, and label charts. They also garnered attention with a one-hour radio show for the YellowHeads program on Los40Dance in Spain.
MIKE MOOIE is also constantly evolving as a live act. In addition to their own events
and extraordinary secret raves –including in Berlin-Charlottenburg and Düsseldorf–
they’ve already performed on stage at the Outside World Festival at the
Lokschuppen in Bielefeld, sharing the lineup with artists such as Westbam, DJ Rush, Kai Tracid, Nathalie de Borah, Melanie Di Tria, and Nostrum.
MIKE MOOIE represent a generation of techno artists who blend old-school techno culture with new trends and forge their own path with every release and every set.
