Merlot (LT)

Artist
Coming from Lithuania, Jonas is not a usual DJ when it comes to his story to Electronic Music. Spending his first 4 years at Herriot Watt University studying physics, he had no intention of doing anything related to music at all. His plan was to become an engineer and live a happy and boring life, but then his first major Rave appeared (Defected in the House) in 2012 at The Arches in Glasgow. The seed of electronic music was planted with the first tunes. Inspired and determined, he managed to get his first gig in the place he worked, “Copper Blossom”. After playing there every Thursday, he decided that this is the path he has chosen to follow. Since graduating, he has been determined to give his all to music. After months, he got his first shot playing in Hectors (room2), where he met David. We instantly clicked and after a couple of beers, saw that they had so much in common. This gig opened doors for his first slots in 99 Hanover Street, Sneaky Pete’s and Cab Vol, all leading up to the opportunity to warm up for the legendary Justin Robertson in August and playing at ADE in October. This year has been extremely busy for him, playing in venues across Edinburgh on a weekly basis. Whenever you catch him playing, his sets are full of House, Techno, Disco… practically anything danceable. He’s never afraid to mix styles up with big inspirations coming from Honey Dijon, Keinemusik, Black Coffee, Red Axes and local boys Kieran Apter and Gavin Miller. “I am more than honored to share my musical selection with you on regular basis on Thursdays for Underground Society and cannot wait to create something special.” – Merlot
