Manique Hendricks (NL)

Manique Hendricks (1992) is a Dutch-Chinese-Indonesian art historian and works as a curator of contemporary art at the Frans Hals Museum. Among other things, she curated the exhibitions ‘The Art of Drag’ (in collaboration with fellow curator of modern art Maaike Rikhof) and ‘The Rhythm of the Night’. In 2023, as a guest curator, she was responsible for the exhibition ‘Those Who Dance Are Free: Club Culture in Amsterdam from 1980 to the Present’ at the Amsterdam City Archives.

In her work, in collaboration with artists, she highlights pressing issues that shape our times – such as decolonisation, technological developments and social justice – driven by the conviction that queerness, transience and the underground must be seen, felt and remembered.
