Grit (NL)

Gerrit Dijkstra, also know as Grit, has been working with computer music since 1989 and his first CD release, Limiter—a rock/electronic breaks collaboration with Jason Kohnen (Bong-Ra) and Sjors Vellekoop—was featured at one of the earliest editions of Amsterdam Dance Event.

In 1999, performing under the name General Electric, he won the Public’s Award in the Dance/Producer category of the Grote Prijs van Nederland. This led to a tour across the Netherlands, performing his distinctive brand of ‘cyber electro'.

Over the years, Grit has worked across music, sound and interactive media: publishing tracks and sounds for advertising, producing remixes, and performing with various artists in interactive audiovisual settings.

Today, he is part of Retrokits, where he brings together decades of experience with electronic music, live performance and experimental hardware. At Retrokits, he designs a unique range of tools for electronic musicians—built around the practical realities of playing live, improvising, and making machines work together on stage.
