Jay Moens (NL)

Jay Moens is a third-generation co-owner of HEMKADE, the independent, family-run event destination just outside Amsterdam that has been home to nightlife, music and live experiences since 1994. Having literally grown up on the venue grounds, Jay has been part of the family business from an early age, helping with the day-to-day operations of the venue before moving into management and taking a more active role in shaping its future.

Jay has been part of HEMKADE for 13 years and became a co-owner in October 2025. Over the past decade, he has helped guide the venue through its next phase of development, including the major renovation in 2023, which opened the space to a new generation of artists, promoters, brands and event organisers. Since then, HEMKADE has welcomed events and concepts including Boiler Room, Music On, ANTS, Verknipt, Joy and Intercell.

Today, Jay works alongside his sister and cousin as part of the third generation of the family to lead HEMKADE. Together, they are building on the venue’s history while taking a more active role in the culture that happens within its walls. This includes the development of HEMKADE Presents, through which the family is moving beyond simply providing a space for events to becoming programmers and curators themselves, developing and presenting their own events and concepts.

Within the organisation, Jay is responsible for programming, business development & strategy, and permits. His role brings together the heritage and character of HEMKADE with a clear vision for its next chapter, with a focus on creating experiences shaped by the venue, its communities and the people who come through its doors.
