Errol Russell (GB)

Artist

It all started for Errol in 1992, when he created the legendary Club Kinetic, a weekly club night, in a multi arena venue, serving the very best in hardcore, jungle and techno. Errol was able to experiment and showcase the very best DJs, MCs and PAs of the day. That same year, he was instrumental in the creation of Quest, another weekly club night in Wolverhampton providing the very best of jungle techno. In 1994, Errol turned his hand to DJing and was soon playing extensively throughout the Midlands. His first booking was at Fakin the Funk in Birmingham, which he has never forgotten. Errol soon became a resident at Absolutely Fabulous at The Theatre Bar and Backstage in Wolverhampton, which hosted Tony DeVit (R.I.P) & Eric Powell. He often played at Spirit and the legendary, PIMP, a collaboration between Dan Prince from Mixmag and Gerald Bailey and graced the decks alongside Fabio & Allister Whitehead. Later that year, Errol went to Kos, Greece, where he found himself playing every night for a month. He loved it so much, he returned the following year. This time, he stayed for 6 months and single handedly turned a no go bar, into the place to be seen. Errol returned to the UK later that year and moved to Brighton. It didn’t take long for Errol to get noticed and before long, he was playing regularly for the major clubs and bars in the city. He soon became a resident for Gorgeous at the Zap Club & The Honey Club and LoveZoo, also at the Honey Club. Playing next to Marshall Jefferson, Frankie Foncett, Jon Da Silva, & Graeme Park. He also secured a regular warm up set with Eric Powell & Carl Cox, at their infamous weekly Ultimate Bush nights at the Zap Club in Brighton. Errol’s DJing really started to take off and he found himself playing regularly at Essence and the Escape Club in Swansea and shared the decks with Pete Tong, John Digweed, Nigel Dawson, Martin Pickard, Nic Warren & Danielle Davoli.

Errol continued to play extensively around the UK and in 2002, he was given the chance of a lifetime in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, where he took part in their world famous Mardi Gras celebrations. In 2004, he was invited to play in Spain at the then Pacha club in Mojacar. He was invited back the following year. That same year, Errol was booked to play in Istanbul, Turkey. An experience he will never forget. Errol then called time on his DJing and took a 15 year hiatus, until March 2020, when the UK went into its first national lockdown in response to the global COVID-19 pandemic. The advice was stay at home, so he dusted off his Technic 1210s and realised he had so missed playing music. In November 2020, lockdownfm.live (LDFM) an internet based radio show, invited Errol to livestream as part of their House Sessions crew, where he continues to play regularly with an accomplished crew of DJs. In July 2021, Errol went digital and fully immersed himself in the latest technologies. In April 2022, he curated his first show ‘FUNKADELIC SESSIONS’ on LDFM and showcased House Legend DJ Romain. This collaboration opened many doors and led to an invite from SoulfulHouseDJs, where Errol performed his first ever Mixcloud live set to wide acclaim. Hot on the heels of this, came an invite from Brixton Jamm. Errol has now teamed up with 4TheMusic (4TM) and has recently been approached by ChoiceFMUK. The news is, continue to watch this space.

You can also catch Errol at the Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE) in October, later this year.
Errol describes his musical style, as a subtle blend of Soulful, Funky, Jackin, Tribal, Deep, Tech House and Nu Disco, interlaced with American Soul, Funk, Disco & Gospel influences. Errol loves happy, inspirational and uplifting music and that is what he delivers whenever he plays.
