Derek Ryan (JP)

Derek Ryan is an American music producer, DJ, and label executive based in Tokyo, operating at the leading edge of Japan’s progressive and uplifting dance music landscape. In 2021, he co-founded Ascent Recordings alongside Sach Jobb, establishing a dedicated Tokyo-based imprint focused on melodic trance, progressive house, and emotive breaks.

As one half of the production duo Codeswitch, Ryan has released music on premier international imprints—including John Digweed's legendary Bedrock Records—while headlining club events across Tokyo and the greater Kanto area. Combining an active dancefloor profile with the day-to-day operations of running an independent record label in Tokyo, Ryan offers a rare insider’s perspective on releasing, distributing, and marketing electronic music within Japan’s distinctive club and fan ecosystem.
