Based in Amsterdam, the Concertgebouworkest has brought music to life for 138 years. The orchestra’s unique sound takes it to the most prestigious concert halls in the world.

Since 2020, the orchestra has been working closely with Klaus Mäkelä, who will commence his tenure as chief conductor in 2027. Riccardo Chailly is conductor emeritus, and Iván Fischer is honorary guest conductor. Her Majesty Queen Máxima is patron of the the Concertgebouw Orchestra.

The orchestra sees it as its responsibility to pass on the power of symphonic music. The musicians share their knowledge and experience through the Academy of the Concertgebouw Orchestra and the international youth orchestra Young, while the orchestra trains young conductors in the Ammodo Masterclass and through the Bernard Haitink Associate Conductorship. With innovative concert formats and performances outside the concert hall, the orchestra inspires new listeners.
