Carola (IT)

Amsterdam-based and born in the mountains of central Italy, Carola is a DJ and artist who favours journeying into the deeper end of the dancefloor, providing vinyl-focused rides that contrast and alternate moods, unequivocally taking listeners on mesmerising mental and physical journeys.

His selections are an ode to the spaces in between: the syncopation, the breath of a dancefloor that moves in unison with mind and body. Expect dreamy textures and rolling grooves layered over psychedelic undertones that build gradually.

Drawing heavily from avant-garde concepts, he is inspired by art that you can touch – from playing with records, shooting photos in film, and producing music with modular synths and analogue machines.

He has recently played in Amsterdam at TillaTec, sharing the bill with legends like Dave Angel, Shinedoe, and Answer Code Request. He’s also currently studying at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam in the Electronic Music department.

He has recently released his first EP on vinyl for Quinoa Cuts, selling 150+ physical copies in just over 10 days, and premiering on platforms such as Trommel, Mixmag, and Soundbots. Quinoa Cuts is a Madrid-based label who has previously released for Waking Life’s own Que Sakamoto.

Previously, he has also shared the decks with the likes of Unai Trotti and Nono Gigsta, and has played extensively across Europe and Asia.

Additionally, he has been resident at some of Netherland’s finest independent radios, such as Operator, Stranded FM, or Radio Oedipus, while also appearing on Echobox, Collect, Radio Raheem, Dublab, Radio TNP, Lusophonica, Hanoi Community Radio, and many more.
