Allard Krijger (NL)

Speaker (FRAKnoise)

Allard Krijger is a Dutch sound designer, electronic musician and writer working under the name FRAKnoise. His work explores how sound can shape emotion, memory and the experience of place. He teaches electronic music at Conservatorium Haarlem and is a researcher with Inholland’s Innovation in the Music Industry research group, where he contributes to research on listening and creative practice. Krijger is the creator of the Melancholytron: a book about melancholy that comes with a sample-based synthesizer designed to produce only melancholic sounds. The book and instrument bring together writing, image and sound in a single project. His practice moves between performance, instrument design, teaching and research, with a particular interest in treating emotional qualities not as effects added afterwards, but as a starting point for making sound.
