LOKAAL x Tell Me More x ADE

Dokzaal collectives LOKAAL and Tell Me More team up with ADE for a showcase of local and international performers, spanning from experimental performance to dance floor goodness.

To start the evening, we've got a meal cooked by Amsterdam legend John Pastinaak in our community kitchen. Setting the tone for what's to come, Ines Barovac blesses us with a full-choir, avant-garde "dinner" performance, followed by sound mangler Ruben Kotkamp, cellist Lucija Gregov, and violinist Christine Cornwell for a blissful ambient serenade. As the night deepens, two dance floor magicians, Zoë Mc Pherson and XEPPO take over with live sets.

Zoë Mc Pherson embodies the unexpected. Their vibrant, nuanced music tests sonic extremes and musical pleasure, grapples with politics and raw emotion, shapes fantasy concepts and meditates on reality. Contrasts are hardwired into their projects, performances and collaborations, bringing bold forms into sharp relief — the constant in their art is evolution. Mc Pherson has developed an arc of accomplished albums and EPs which strike out into uncharted zones, moving from the acute percussive angles of earlier albums through to more melodious, vocal-charged exploration. The sonic elements shifting within their sound reach from the physicality of soundsystem music to the hyper-kinetic rhythms of singeli, avant-garde synthesis, textural experimentation and the unfiltered emotive impact of club-ready pop.

Ines Borovacpresents 'Kill is Only a Dinner and Dinner is Not the Entire World'Inspired by Anne Boyer’s When the Lambs Rise Up Against the Bird of Prey, this project begins from the lamb’s position of constant risk, where survival depends on collective sensing and atunement. Boyer’s observation that the predator mistakes a kill for the whole world mirrors today’s systems of ex traction, where those in power entrap the vulnerable within cycles of appetite.
In collaboration with performers and the choir of 40 framing the walls of gallery while singing the Requiem, the artist embodies multiple preys to stage direct power dynamics between predator and prey, exposing how fear shapes bodies, movement, and group identity. Within the flock, time distorts, senses sharpen, and survival emerges as both a strategy and a shared choreography.

Transdisciplinary artist and electroacoustic musicianRuben Kotkampworks with cellist Lucija Gregov and violinist Christine Cornwell, exploring the tension between fixed media and free improvisation. Their process is cyclical, drawing on second-order cybernetics. Feedback between composed material, live improvisation, the space, and the audience continuously reshapes the music. Each performance feeds new developments into the fixed media, creating an iterative system in which composition and improvisation evolve together over extended periods of time.
