Prepared? How the Coming Super El Niño Will Affect You
Speaker: Ella Gilbert (Climate scientist & broadcaster), Artur Mendes (Co-Managing Director, Boom Festival)
Moderator: Greg Cochrane
We’ve already seen major disruption to festivals from extreme weather in 2026, for example at Primavera Sound, Defqon.1 and Governor’s Ball, as well as the Garorock Festival in France, which took place in temperatures of 42º. What comes next? It’s called the “super” El Niño. An El Niño weather event acts as an amplifier, and it’s expected to be the most significant ever. Imagine it as being like a guitar amplifier turned up to full volume, but for climatic conditions: the wet's going to get wetter, the hot, hotter, the winds stronger. Europe will feel it, as will many other parts of the world, and this is your chance to find out what will happen, and most importantly, how you, your event or your artists can prepare countermeasures.
The time of the session is still to be announced.
