Tuesday, 27 September 2022
For anyone serious about making electronic music on a range of the latest creative technology, a visit to the ADE Lab is an absolute must. Here, some of the most respected companies in the industry come together and make themselves available so you can get hands-on with Ableton gear, pick the brains of Native Instruments experts, watch Roland demonstrations, get involved with Teenage Engineering competitions, and experience some live music from Nadia Struiwigh.

It's your time to shine in the ADE Studio Arena ~

All new for this year is the ADE Studio Arena, and it is ready and waiting for you to step up and create some new music on the fly! All you need to do is plug in your laptop to gain access to a huge amount of cutting-edge hardware and software from brands like Moog, Ableton, AIAIAI, Focusrite/Novation, Native Instruments, Roland, Teenage Engineering, and Universal Audio. On top of this, hourly challenges will be set by hosts from the SAE Institute for anyone who fancies their chances so, what are you waiting for?

~ Listen, watch, learn and play

The Gear Test Lab in de Brakke Grond cultural centre is an absolute paradise for any and all producers. It is a space where you get to work on the software and hardware of your dreams, to soak up knowledge from the masters, get feedback on your own music, learn how to grow your record label, break into the industry, and so much more.

Gear heads can get hands-on with hardware and software from AIMI, Ableton, Alter Audio's Timetosser, Amptec, Fangage, Howler Audio, IK Multimedia, AlphaTheta aka Pioneer DJ and join workshops offered by SAE Institute Amsterdam, Loopmasters, Loopcloud, Plugin Boutique, and Ampsuite. As well as LabelRadar and Toolroom offer a live A&R Feedback Session, plus there are creative sampling masterclasses, talks on how to accelerate label growth, how to break into the industry, and a live demo from techno-wizard KiNK on his Roland gear. Going back to school never felt so good!

Unmissable demos ~

A whole host of brands will bring some of their most knowledgeable experts and trusted gear heads to offer eye-opening demonstrations of their products. You might think you know Ableton, but once you see the company's own staff show you how they work, you are sure to have your eyes opened to whole new possibilities. Do you find yourself frustrated with the final mixdown of your latest tune? Then dial into the iZotope demo. Find out what you need to add to your live setup with help from Native Instruments, or take a deep dive into Dutch artist Eelke Kleijn's production and mix workflow as he shows you how he uses Universal Audio Spark Plug-Ins and hardware. But that's not all, because certified Ableton trainer and Point Blank Music School educationalist Ski Oakenfull will deconstruct Beyoncé’s ‘Break My Soul’ and reveal the secrets of its sound designs and arrangement right before your eyes.

~ Get interactive at Lynk & Co

At the Lynk & Co space on ADE Thursday, Teenage Engineering is taking over to let you play around with their new portable TX–6 mixer and OP–1 synth or, if you prefer, you could quiz some of the electronics company's staff while you watch them show off their skills. A Space Invaders competition on their OP–Z could also see you win some of the latest Teenage Engineering gear. The whole workshop will be finished off with Nadia Struiwigh playing a live show, and a DJ set from Filip Loeb.

Access to all this latest dance music technology as part of ADE Lab is available by the day, or Wednesday through Saturday with a passepartout. Get yours below:
