Todd Omotani, is famous for tearing it up on the dancefloors of parties and for his long run of legendary club residencies. Known for his incredible ear for ass-shaking trax, unforgettable vocals blended with soul moving rhythms, which always leads to packed dancefloors. Omotani, introduced to house music by Canadian house music pioneer DJ Rice in the summer of 1987. Over the next 6 years Omotani had his skills tuned and sharpened by Calgary legends Dean Clark, Mike Eremita and DJ Rice. In 1995 Todd’s best friend took him on a trip to the house music mecca of Chicago, Illinois. Todd had found exactly what he had been looking for, “underground”. So he began to make regular trips to Chicago, as well as bringing Chicago’s finest djs to DJ across Western Canada. On his trips to Chicago, Todd formed strong friendships and bonds with DJ Heather, DJ Colette, Tim “Home & Garden” Shumaker, Gene Farris, Johnny Fiasco, Légo, Mark Grant, JDub, and Derrick Carter. But the person that was the key to learning and absorbing the Chicago style of djing / production was from the notorious Diz. Returning back to Vancouver with his absorbed knowledge, Omotani’s following grew through notorious house nights at Vancouver’s biggest clubs, Sonar, Shine, Bar None, Celebrities, Saturday resident for almost 7 years at the infamous “World” afterhours, and Ginger 62. Omotani’s following has spread beyond the borders of Canada leading to guest appearances at clubs around the globe, most notable is the night where he is formidably known as ‘the godfather’- SOLID in Tokyo, Japan. Together with Marshall Boardman, Todd created the concept and brand to the world famous monthly party which is considered to be one of Tokyo’s best house music parties.
