Rus Newton (JE)

Rus Newton is a drummer and early-stage investor who funds the pipes between a stream and a ticket. After co-founding CoinShares — Europe’s largest digital-asset manager, taken from a commodities desk to the Nasdaq — he now invests through Vitruvius Ventures in pre-seed and seed music technology. His thesis is simple: live performance is the only irreplaceable asset in music. Streaming is a billboard, not a bank. He backs tools that turn passive listeners into people in the room, and business models that only make money when the artist does. He does not fund song-generating AI, another DSP, or anything that keeps a fan on a screen. He looks at every deal through two lenses — the drummer (would I use this?) and the builder (does the unit economics survive without the romance) — and writes cheques from $50k to $500k.
