Rimco (NL)

Rimco started mixing in the mid-eighties, during the new wave era and its emerging electronic alternative music, from bands like Cabaret Voltaire, Meat Beat Manifesto, and Front 242.

Mostly on cassettes, his love for mixing more subtle music started with a passion for the sample-based tracks of The Art of Noise.

The arrival of acid house in his hometown in 1988 was a revolution, and from that moment he started collecting the now-classic records from Detroit and Chicago.

This music became his state of mind. In the early nineties, Rimco initiated the collective Codix and became obsessed with playing for audiences during the Codix raves.Around this time, in 1992, he moved to Rotterdam, where he worked at Stealth's record store Hotsound and found his way in the music, even as house music itself moved into the mainstream during its final uprising — never becoming mainstream himself.

His travels to Eastern Europe, where the house music revolution arrived a bit later, resulted in him becoming one of the first and foremost DJs in Poland in the '90s, with gigs all over the country.

Having watched the music evolve over the last 30 years, his sets are rooted in that original revolutionary experience — his fascination with house music and techno in their purest form.

His musical universe stays open to all techno and house subgenres; only the feeling and the energy need to connect with the dancefloor. With room for experimentation, his sets contain surprises and variation. The stories in his mixes evolve just as the music has over the years. As long as the music captures that special, deeper, intuitive vibe, it can appear in his energetic vinyl sets.
