Moodymann (US)

Kenny Dixon Jr., better known by his stage name Moodymann, is an American record producer and DJ based in Detroit, Michigan, who is a pivotal figure in the Detroit techno and house music scenes.
Moodymann officially launched his independent label KDJ Records in 1994 and also owns Mahogani Music, founded in 2002.

He released his debut album, Silent introduction, on Planet E Communications in 1997, followed by notable albums like Black Mahogani (2004), his self-titled Moodymann (2014) and Taken Away (2020). Moodymann is a member of the production collective 3 Chairs, alongside Theo Parrish, Rick Wilhite, and Marcellus Pittman.
Known for his anti-promotional stance and refusal to give interviews, Moodymann maintains a mysterious public image.

In 2020, he portrayed a fictionalized version of himself in Grand Theft Auto Online, serving as a resident DJ at the Music Locker nightclub.

His bi-annual Soul Skate roller skating event will celebrate it’s 20th anniversary in 2027.
