Jlin became a dance festival hot ticket following the release of her critically acclaimed debut, Dark Energy, which was voted best album of 2015 by The Wire magazine’s contributors. Her recently released second album, Black Origami, offers yet another highly personal and mysterious take on juke and footwork, the rhythmically charged electronic dance music genre from Chicago. Jlin was mentored by footwork pioneers RP Boo and DJ Rashad, and has collaborated with Holly Herndon, William Basinski and dancer Avril Stormy Unger, among others.
