BRONKA (BR)

Born and raised in Montes Claros, Brazil, BRONKA is part of a new wave of artists redefining Brazilian electronic music through a distinctly global perspective. Rooted in his upbringing in the brazilian countryside, his work is shaped by over a decade of musical research and immersion across Europe, resulting in a sound that moves fluidly between Brazilian funk, bass music, breakbeat, techno, and other uptempo subgenres in club music.
BRONKA approaches club music as a shared language. His productions and performances explore the blackness in electronic music and everything between the rawness of Brazilian funk/Brazilian electronic music (MEPB) and global bass. The result is a high-intensity, deeply percussive sound that feels just as much like home in underground clubs, festival stages, and sound systems as it would on a car’s sound system parked in the outer skirts of Montes Claros next to a convenience store.

BRONKA is a strong advocate for recognizing electronic music as a Black genre, highlighting the foundational contributions of Black artists and communities and the continued innovation being driven by Black people in marginalized and peripheral communities across the world: from Brazil and the United States to Africa and Europe.
