Austin started his BBC career in marketing - scheduling promotional trials for Radio 4 and Radio Five Live. However, with his heart firmly set on a career in music he eventually landed a job as Music Co-ordinator at 1Xtra. This role saw him programming the music for daytime shows and assisting the Music Manager across all areas on the station.
With a desire to learn about other areas of the industry, Austin took a break from the BBC and spent 2 years as CEO at The Hub Entertainment - a multifaceted PR, live bookings and management agency that worked with an array of talent. During this period, Austin was invited by Cambridge University to give a speech in front of their Union Society.
In 2014 Austin re-joined the BBC as 1Xtra’s Music Manager. Austin is currently on the voting panel for The Brits, The MOBOs and The BET Awards.
