Alex Chaykin is Vice President and leads Electronic Music Department at APA, one of the largest diversified talent agencies in the industry with headquarters in Beverly Hills, Nashville and New York. Since first joining the agency in 2012, Chaykin has overseen significant growth of his division, which now consists of over 50 artists touring all over the world with an emphasis on North and South America.
In this capacity, Chaykin’s primary focus for the department has been building long term careers, breaking and building artists and their brands, and working with seasoned artists who continue to evolve with the changing arena. Some of the departments clients where this can be seen include Paul Oakenfold, Matoma, EDX and his No Xcusesbrand, Sharam, Nora En Pure, Visionquest, Watermat, Simon Patterson, Inna, Sander Kleinenberg, among many others.
As market growth and music trends continually shift, Chaykin and his team have booked over 100 shows in Latin America this year alone. In countries such as Mexico, Peru, Chile, Argentina, Brazil and other developing markets, they’ve also forged new and larger partnerships with APA playing a key role in overall programing. For TECATE’s 2015/2016 events throughout Mexico, Chaykin booked featured clients such as 50 Cent, Paul Oakenfold and Inna, The 1975 and OMI among others. He is also currently in the process of programming eight additional events for the Tecate brand through the end of this year. Chaykin and his team are constantly looking for new business opportunities for the company in all regions as the department continues to grow.
Chaykin, who over the years has signed, broken and helped develop some of the largest names in dance music while mentoring numerous agents along the way, began his music career as a talent buyer at Club Metronome. He joined AM Only in 2006, where he was soon promoted to agent before moving to WME in 2009 and coming to APA in 2012.
