POLYNODE: Installations to Lumus Instruments
Speakers: Timo Lejeune (Lumus Instruments), Julius Oosting (Lumus Instruments)
Media Art installations are becoming more prominent in the festival landscape and club culture. In this masterclass, Timo and Julius of Lumus Instruments will zoom into their approach of creating artworks as “instruments”; devices that elicit play and exploration. Artworks like Lumus’ POLYNODE, combine structure with technology to translate complex audio-visual compositions into physical experiences.
With the POLYNODE series, Lumus Instruments makes these systems experienceable and plays with how we interact with the behaviour they exhibit. These large technological bodies use virtual nodes within an audio-visual sequence that express themselves through light and sound. Starting from simple patterns and a single computational network, the behaviour grows into more complex ones that put us into a state of flow while observation. Here there is a constant tension between what we perceive and what is not visible and audible.
Everyone attending this masterclass will receive a free entry ticket for Nxt Museum to experience POLYNODE in person and explore all other exhibitions that are currently running in the museum dedicated to new media art!
