Niels Broos x Jamie Peet x Otis Sandsjö
Alongside many DJ sets, this year’s Amsterdam Dance Event also presents special live acts, such as Niels Broos and Jamie Peet. They could be seen as instigators of a new Dutch wave that embraces electronica, jazz and hip-hop. Their music is fully improvised and is full of hooks at the same time. Through analogue means they create a tension that’s comparable to the electronic music of Aphex Twin, Squarepusher and Autechre. Special guest is Berlin-based saxophonist Otis Sandsjö, who previously played here with his band Y-OTIS.
As a keyboardist and musical leader, Niels Broos has made his mark playing with the likes of Jameszoo, Dadelus and Kyteman Orchestra. With London-based producer Hyroglifics he release dan EP as Rippps on Alpha Pup Records. Jamie Peet is in high demand as a drummer in The Netherlands, and he has toured with, among others, Gregory Porter and Kris Bowers. The first duo release of Niels Broos and Jamie Peet appeared on the Super-Sonic Jazz label.
