Master Class: Flying Park – One Kingdom under a Groove
Fellow
Moderator: Reinout van Gendt
For the past five years, Michael ‘Fellow’ Lampe served as senator of the Parliament of Aruba, aiming to improve the creative infrastructure of the island and create more financial opportunities for electronic music talent in the region. Now he returns to his first love: making electronic music that is strongly rooted in both The Netherlands and the Caribbean, music that is analogue and digital, futuristic and traditional – One Kingdom Under A Groove. During this tailor-made masterclass Michael Lampe will premier his new project Flying Park, based upon a free spirited creative and activist movement by the same name that emerged in the 70’s in the Caribbean. Lampe, who has linked up with electronic music artists ranging from Diplo to DJ Moortje to Cata.Pirata, will discuss using his own musical heritage to create new, fresh and distinctive sounds. From jamming with grand masters of Aruban folk music, and the revolutionary impact of Dutch-Caribbean bubbling music worldwide, to his coming of age in the vibrant electronic music scene of Amsterdam. Lampe will break-down his musical influences in an exciting and unique production master class with colourful documentary shorts, insightful production break downs, and quick-fire Q&A-segments. And shares his strong view on what it takes to bring creative possibilities for emerging talent on the islands to a similar solid platform as in the rest of the Kingdom of The Netherlands.
