How to create a Track with Sounds of the Silent Club

Tom Trago, Alberta Baslam

Moderator: Steven van Lummel

The 'Sounds of the Silent Club’ beats workshop is an initiative by PIP The Hague. During the pandemic, when the dancefloors were empty, the music was off and the lights were on in all the clubs around Europe, the PIP staff recorded the sounds that were heard in their empty club. A door banging, a ventilator humming, a glass put down on the bar. Sounds which are usually unheard because of the voices, people, music.

PIP then invited seven producers to their club and asked them to take these sounds, turn them into beats and use them in new tracks. Tom Trago en Alberta Balsam will demonstrate their tracks and talk about the workshop with initiator of this idea, and artistic director of PIP Steven van Lummel.
