Amsterdam Club Culture - from RoXY to Garage Noord (1/2)
During ADE, The Amsterdam Museum and the Amsterdam City Archives offer a public program on Amsterdam club culture. Bringing together unique documents from the club archives, ideas of young makers and photographs from then and now, the program will shed a refreshing light on Amsterdam club culture. We will look at the club as a place of Do It Yourself, of escapism, freedom and exclusion. There will be room for nostalgia, but above all, we will have a look at the present and the future of Amsterdam club culture.
After an introduction by photographer Cleo Campert at the Amsterdam Museum, highlighting the exhibition Ode to Zubrowka - the muse of club RoXY, we will go together on a short walk to the Amsterdam City Archives. There, Ramon de Lima, Amsterdam’s night mayor, interviews various guests who are or have been a major influence on Amsterdam nightclubs over the years. The program will be concluded with drinks.
4 pm: Introduction by Cleo Campert and opportunity to view the exhibition Ode to Zubrowka - the muse of club RoXy.
4.30 pm: Departure walk to the City Archives, Vijzelstraat 32
5.15 pm: panel discussion led by Ramon de Lima with various guests
6:00 pm: end of panel discussion
This event is free of charge, please claim your free ticket here!
*Sidenote keep in mind, Dutch is the spoken language during the event.
The Amsterdam Museum, founded in 1926, is an innovative city museum that invites residents and visitors of Amsterdam to become co-owners of our city - a metropolis in miniature. We do this by celebrating the city, but also by discussing its lesser aspects and exploring what could be improved.
