Talk in /K: Sexism in the DJ scene

Talk in /K: Sexism in the DJ scene

For this year's ADE, Studio/K will host a talk about the systemic discrimination of women in the electronic music industry. The talk will take place in one of the cinema theatres of Studio/K where we discuss topics such as gender quotas, sexual intimidation, and tokenism together with Bella Hall from the DJ collective Ampfeminine and genderstudies scientist Astrid Kerchman. After the talk, Julia Mira, Loradeniz, and Berton will take over the DJ booth to dive into the various electronic music genres this world has to offer with a three-hour livestream programme.

Studio/K

In 2007, Studio/K opened its doors in Amsterdam’s multicultural East side. The monumental, century-old school building was transformed into a cinema, nightclub, restaurant and bar. All of this is run completely and exclusively by students.

The latest Dutch press conference mandates that clubs, venues and indoor events are forced to close between 00:00 and 06:00 CET. This means ADE is preparing to shift it's events to daytime. Over the coming days, the ADE team and the Amsterdam city council are examining the details of the new regulations for each type of event within the total ADE offering.

Also, all events need to have a COVID-health-check prior to the event.

If you are planning a stay in the Netherlands then be aware that you must follow the Dutch advice and rules to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Please follow the advice of your government and check the Dutch guidelines before planning to travel.
