Music industry veteran and Phase One Network, Inc. CEO Frank Babar is an American entrepreneur, producer and promoter with decades of experience in the hip-hop and electronic music scene in New York. His company oversees a large catalogue in hip-hop, electronic music and more; including artists such as New Edition, Jungle Brothers, Boogie Down Productions and Mantronix. He has a strong vision on creating long-term intellectual and creative property, as well as long-term careers for his artists, including hip-hop legend Max B, fresh on the comeback with new music, Jamaican dancehall artist Serani, and up and coming R&B singer Xavier White. In the 1980s, Babar began his career as a promoter in the budding electronic music scene in New York City, booking DJ’s for hip-hop block parties, founding record labels, and developing artists. Continuing throughout the 90s, Babar was at the cusp of the streaming age with his Enetronic music search engine and streaming platform.
In his ADE Beats keynote Q&A, Babar will share how he feels record labels will cease to exist, how the future of the industry is about managing creative and intellectual property, his experience on asset value from a financial and logistic standpoint, and his vision on what it takes to create a stable revenue stream and long term careers for both music industry professionals and artists in the hip-hop and electronic music scenes.
