Music Moves makes dance floors accessible for everyone

Monday, 11 October 2021
Music Moves and ADE have collaborated with the aim of making dance floors more accessible and inclusive. Music Moves was brought to life to help music fans become social entrepreneurs and kickstart their careers in the music industry, and this year they have organized eleven inclusive ADE events.

Students followed a 4-part course, where they learned the tricks of the trade in organizing music events. Music Moves focusses on including people you normally wouldn't see on the dance floor, such as the elderly, young kids, newcomers in our country, homeless people, or people with a disability. We're shining a light on all the Music Moves events, a part of our Arts & Culture program.

Thursday

ADAMMIX

Free to visit and starting with an open stage: ADAMMIX invites everybody and especially newcomers to participate and perform on Thursday evening at the auditorium of Oosterbar. All musical styles are welcome, and the open stage will end in a banging party, where you can make new friends and connections. The ADAMMIX event especially welcomes newcomers, but everybody is welcome to express their love for music.

De Stoelendans (The Chair Dance)
De stoelendans is a wheelchair dance workshop, where wheelchair users are invited to dance together and with the people close to them. Family members, friends, neighbours: everybody is welcome to dance in their own way. Just like Music Moves says: 'anything is possible.'

Muziek Verbindt (Music Unites)
Muziek Verbindt, or Music Unites, is an event created to raise awareness for the creative powers of young people with mental disabilities. Their disabilities may be not observable at first glance, but their strengths can be brought to light with music. This events grants young people the opportunity to experience and feel the power of music together, in a loving way.

Draai Je Grijs (Play Yourself Gray)
Dance music is not just for young people, as Music Moves invites the elderly on Thursday at Vreugdehof. Their workshop 'painting on music from the past' brings music and art together and ends in a afternoon dancing on hits from the past.
