Live Performances

Wednesday, 06 October 2021
Between all the DJ decks and synth set-ups, we’ve selected live performances that are worth experiencing with your own eyes. As the ADE Festival program entails over 350 events, this guide helps you discover the liveliness of ADE 2021.

Weval & Metropole Orkest
As the one and only ADE Special, the already sold-out Weval & Metropole Orkest concert on Wednesday promises to be exceptional. Every year during ADE, Metropole Orkest, Melkweg and ADE, collaborate to combine electronic music and acoustic instruments. For the fifth annual live concert, Metropole teams up with Weval, a Dutch electronic duo known for their warm, swelling synths and melodic rythms.

Ester

Classical music and electronic music have their differences, but this special crossover performance that celebrates powerful women throughout the ages shows you how well these two worlds combine. The Netherlands Chamber Choir teams up with British-Iranian turntable artist Shiva Feshareki, linked together by performances of dancer BOSSLADY and poet Lisette Ma Neza, with the classic look and feel of Muziekgebouw aan ‘t IJ that serves as a backdrop.

People of Noise x ADE

On Thursday, across het IJ, Paradiso Noord is home to People of Noise, as they’re bringing a night of progressive live shows and DJ-sets to ADE. Names like Jasmín, Oceanic and Zohar are part of the line-up of the concert hall in that lies in Tolhuistuin, directly at the water side across from Amsterdam Central Station.

Helena Basilova plays Morton Feldman
Surrounded by 800 candles with the Portuguese Synagogue as backdrop decor: Helena Basilova plays Morton Feldman completely unplugged on October 14th as part of our Arts & Culture programme. The silence in her piano play creates space and allows you to slow down, simply feel, and reflect, which suits the location of this live show perfectly.

Pllek Live Stage DANDANA
Pllek loosely translates to ‘place’ in Dutch, which is exactly what this venue is: a place to go and visit during ADE. Pllek is a well-known venue for live music. DANDANA, a collective of musicians from Gambia and The Netherlands, takes you on a psychedelic dance trip through West Africa, while still being in the North of Amsterdam.

Brighter Days
Lenxi is unleashing her new solo project live at Doka on ADE Friday, where Brighter Days will be taking over the evening with an intimate experience. Brighter Days is not only debuting Lenxi, but also bringing other artists in their pack to play their sound system, such as Hellie Berry, Kamma & Masalo. Limited capacity, maximum vibes, as they put it themselves.
