ADE goes Homecoming Festival: bridging musical cultures in Lagos, Nigeria

Amsterdam Dance Event has partnered with Lagos based cultural platform Homecoming Festival, in a cultural endeavor to closely experience and exchange perspectives with creative talent and communities in the local music scene. With about ten industry professionals by their side, the organisation is determined to explore the rich nightlife, culture, art and dance music scene in Nigeria and to see how ADE can contribute as a platform for this music and culture. As one of the birth grounds of dance music, scenes such as Nigeria's continue to have a huge impact on the development of club culture - with Afrobeats and amapiano taking over nightlife in recent (and future) years, curiosity about how talent and styles spark up in the Nigerian music sector is felt all over.

Cultural Currency Summit at HOMECOMING Festival 2024

At the heart of this collaboration is the interaction with the local artists and music professionals. Through a duo of knowledge & talent exchange sessions with local communities that are set to take place on Friday, March 29th, topics such as DJ culture, artist management, and the workings of booking agencies are addressed. These interactions are intended as a first step in an ongoing exchange of knowledge, laying the groundwork for future collaborations in both continents.

The organisation has set out to learn from the local scene and culture, and to bring attention to creating a self-sustaining ecosystem. This project also serves as an exploration of opportunities to help platform African talent, with the ambition to connect intercontinental music sectors together with Homecoming Festival.

ADE has two enriching discussions on the agenda at the Alara Hub in Lagos on Friday, March 29th - all sessions are free to access for everyone interested:

Bridging Continents: Maximizing Music Opportunities Abroad
| We'll explore how artists and music professionals can leverage international platforms to expand their reach and advance their careers. ADE x Homecoming promises to be an enriching discussion that delves into the strategies and resources available for navigating the global music landscape. A session for (aspiring) artists, agents and artist managers.

Opportunities for DJs from the African continent, Producers, Artists, Promoters and Festivals
| We delve into the world of DJ-ing and uncover the keys to success in this art, focusing on opportunities for African music genres. We'll explore the opportunities and challenges that come with navigating the international music landscape, offering insights and strategies to entities wanting to enter the international market.

Afterwards, attendeed can join Homecoming & ADE for drinks to connect and mingle with cultural enthusiasts, and celebrate the end of Homecoming's Cultural Currency Summit.
